| The
School of Telecommunication Engineering is the largest school at Beijing
University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT). It was established in
December 1996 by combining the Department of Telecommunications and the
Department of Wireless Communications. Our professional and creative faculty
consists of many famous experts, professors and young scholars. Our staff
has 140 members including 18 PhD advisers, 55 professors, 46 associate professors,
46 senior engineers and 27 lecturers/engineers. This school is one of the
main educational institutions for high-level professionals in the communications
industry here in China. Currently, the School grants degrees to students
in four areas, Wireless Communication, Fiber-optic Communication, Information
Processing and Multi-Media Technology. We have more than 3400 registered
students, including 151 PhD candidates, 568 Masters candidates, 2038 undergraduate
students and more than 600 junior college students. There are seven teaching
and research centers. These centers include the Fiber-optic Communications
Center, Wireless Communications Center, Computer Technology Center, Multi-Media
Communications Center, Network and Switching Center, Circuit and Systems
Center and the Experimental Center. In the areas of research and development
we have made many creative achievements in the fields of Fiber-optical Communications,
Mobile Communications, Multimedia and Image Processing, Intelligent Signal
Processing, and in Communication Networks and Switching. We have also established
excellent academic relationships with many prestigious universities and
research institutes at home and abroad.
